A powerful night of storytelling and a celebration of women in sport at one of the most special venues in Melbourne, The W Club.
From everyone at the DHM team, thank you to the athletes and the people behind the scenes who helped make this event possible and, most importantly, the people who came along to give their time and attention to what was an enthralling pram behind the careers and lives of Meg Lanning, Tayla Harris, Al Viney, Sia Kindberg and Corinne Hall.
Everyone went home with a copy of the book Victress: Women Who Paved The Way In Australian Sport - and full hearts, minds (and stomaches, thanks to the team at the W Club).

An I-Midge of greatness!
The major prize at Friday night’s International Women’s Day event at the W Club in Melbourne is this special one-of-a-kind tribute to Australian cricket icon Alyssa Healy.
The retiring great - who has signed the piece, illustrated by our very own artist and Victress Book author Corinne Hall - reeled off a stunning 158 off 98 balls in her last ever ODI and the final Test of one of Australian cricket’s greatest careers begins this Friday at the WACA - the same day as our special event.

Corinne on the inspiration behind her illustration:
“Midge is a traditionalist, she lives Test cricket, loves the history of the game and has a profound respect for those women who came before her to pave the way in the sport. I wanted to capture her in a classic pose which I hope shows the reverence she has for the game and how she hasn’t just continued that trailblazing legacy - she’s progressed and modernised the game through her attacking style of play. I know she loves that Aussie blazer and baggy green like very few, so I wanted try to capture the pride she has when representing Australia.”

Transcendent dual-sport icon @tayla_harris is joining the panel of trailblazing sportswomen at our special @victressthebook x @thewclub_melbourne International Women’s Day event.
The AFLW great boasts a jam-packed resume, featuring a premiership, four All-Australian guernseys and four club leading goalkicker gongs, combining that with Australian boxing titles in two different weight divisions.
But it’s her impact off the sporting arena that has left an indelible mark, most famously her powerful stance against merciless trolling in the wake of ‘The Kick’ image changing the minds of women and men and inspiring generations of girls.
The 2021 Young Victorian of the Year joins Australian cricket legend @meglanning7 and dual-Paralympian @al.viney on the panel at the event.
Harris, who was among the athletes drawn by Corinne Hall for the book Victress: Women Who Paved the Way in Australian Sport, has a remarkable story to share and one we can’t wait to learn more about.
