A former star of the Hawthorn Football Club, Dermott played in 8 x Grand Finals for 5 x Premierships, as well as 5 x night Premierships over his career.
Today, Dermott is a widely recognised and sought-after keynote speaker as well as an MC and host of many corporate and sporting events. There have been few better players in the game than "The Kid". Brereton has prided himself on his athleticism and vigour with a style that is unmistakable - full-on, intense and physical.
After an illustrious career with Hawthorn Football Club, Dermott moved north to join the Sydney Swans where he acted as a leader and role model for the young team before moving back to Melbourne where he joined Collingwood Football Club.
Receiving enormous media exposure, Dermott lived up to his expectations and enjoyed a successful season with the Magpies, only just missing out on the 1995 finals.
The media first identified Dermott’s wonderful character and positive, forthright personality whilst he was still playing football. Upon retirement, he continues to make Australian Rules Football a talking point throughout the wider sporting world. Controversial, colourful and constantly called up for comment, his media career now includes AFL presenter and commentator on TV, newspaper columnist, radio caller and former presenter on the award-winning travel show “Getaway”
Charismatic and personable Dermott’s confident speaking manner combined with his high profile and experiences on and off the field make him an ideal after-dinner speaker or exceptionally entertaining conference/awards host.
